What Type of White Fabric That is Thin, Soft, and Stretchy Would Be Good For My Wedding Gown?
(Lindsey)
Question:
I am rather ignorant when it comes to fabric, and I was wondering if you could enlighten me. I am trying to find a white fabric for my wedding gown that is thin, (preferably soft but not a necessity), a little stretchy and not too sheer. Any ideas?
Answer:
The fabric that comes to mind is 100% silk double georgette fabric. This fabric is part of a group of sheer fabrics considered a soft sheer. This particular fabric although thin is considered a double opaque fabric that is not easy to see through, it is also soft, and a little stretchy. It is also part of the family of fabrics that are elegant and well suited to wedding attire and evening wear. Silk double georgette is not as sheer as chiffon, another member of the family of soft sheers.
